Islamabad: The Oil and Gas Development Limited (OGDCL) and its Joint Venture partners, Orient Petroleum and GHPL, have announced the successful discovery of oil and gas hydrocarbons from an exploratory well in the Singhoro Block, Sindh, news sources reported on December 23.
As per the filing of the OGDCL, the well ‘Kot Nawab-1’, was spudded in on June 3, 2022, with OGDCL’s in-house expertise. After drilling down to 3000 meters, wireline log interpretation was used to assess the well’s potential.
The results of the assessment were promising, as Drill Stem Test-1 in the Basal Sand yielded 125 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) and 0.483 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas through a choke size of 28/64, with a wellhead flowing pressure (WHFP) of 150 pounds per square inch (Psi).
The discovery of oil and gas hydrocarbons in the Singhoro Block is a milestone achievement for OGDCL and its joint venture partners and will be a major economic boost for the region. This discovery is expected to save the country an estimated USD 50 million in annual imports. It is the second oil discovery announced by the OGDCL in Sindh in just one week.
