LAHORE: On Monday, Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi unveiled the Sutlej Indus Economic Network (SIEN), a Rs160 billion project that will connect seven districts to highways and motorways between the Sutlej and the Sindh River. (Reported by news source)
According to the plan, the Indus Highway will be connected to the districts of Kasur, Okara, Pakpattan, Vehari, Bahawalnagar, Lodhran, and Bahawalpur.
According to CM, the mammoth project would usher in a new era of growth and wealth for farmers, traders, industrialists, and investors.
The CM revealed that Rs15bn would be used to complete the project’s initial phase, which runs from the Kasur Bypass to the Lahore Ring Road (G-1 SIEN Corridor).
The CM highlighted that when outlying districts develop and new job possibilities are created, pressure on major cities will lessen. The potato producers would gain from the creation of specialised machinery centres in Pakpattan and Okara.
